Projects
The Environmental Records Centre undertakes a number of different
projects each year. These could be projects initiated by ERCCIS
or by another organisation, for example during 2002 projects
were undertaken for Cornwall Wildlife Trust, Natural England,
Environment Agency and Restormel Borough Council.
Below are some of the current projects being undertaken by
ERCCIS staff.
Celebrating Cornwall’s Mammals – from Dormice
to Dolphins!
This is an exciting new project that will run for four years,
and is concerned with recording all the mammals found in Cornwall
and Scilly. This includes marine mammals such as the Bottlenose
Dolphin and the Atlantic Grey Seal, terrestrial mammals –
Hedgehog and the Roe Deer, as well as flying mammals, such
as the Greater Horseshoe Bat. Everyone can get involved –
see our Help Wanted page.

Cornwall Bird Atlas
Overseen by the Cornwall Bird Watching and Preservation
Society (CBWPS), this project aims to produce two atlases:
one for the breeding season and one for the winter. This project
will be a reliable source of information from which accurate
conclusions on species status can be obtained and on which
future conservation decisions can be based.
Cornwall’s Wealth of Wildlife (WOW!) Project
This project is now ended, but it focused on promoting the Biodiversity Action
Plan process in Cornwall, monitoring the actions individuals and organisations
are undertaking for biodiversity as well as identifying any national priorities
that are relevant to the county.

and Biodiversity Action Plans for Cornwall, click on the
