Support for recorders

ERCCIS works with and encourages both individual recorders and local recording groups to lodge their wildlife and geological records with the Records Centre. Without the support of local recorders and recording groups ERCCIS could not exist. We therefore want to give as much support to the recorders as possible, and currently offer the following ‘services’:

  • Providing species records and other information in exchange. Please see the Services and Wildlife Information Service pages for details.
  • Providing computer support. We run a satellite recording network for recorders/recording groups who wish to computerise their own records within Cornwall and Scilly. Please contact us for further details.
  • Organising workshops and training sessions (often in conjunction with local recording groups and other organisations) to encourage recording and increase the pool of expertise within the County. Please see our Workshops and Field Trips page for current workshops and field trips.
  • Publishing information in various formats to keep people informed. These publications include local distribution atlases for particular species groups, newsletters and papers. Please see our Publications page for further details.
  • Putting people in touch with county recorders and other recorders with particular expertise.
  • Providing access to our reference library of species identification guides; national and local species distribution atlases; journals and books on habitat, species, geology and wildlife within Cornwall and Scilly.
  • Providing administrative support and meeting space to local recording groups. Please contact us for further details.
